Launchpad is a creative materials exchange and makerspace that encourages students to be creative, while aiming to reduce the costs associated with attending a university.
The cost of attendance can be a heavy burden to many SJSU students. On top of normal school tuition, many students have to manage other costs related to their attendance at SJSU, like transportation, rent, and school supplies. This can have a great impact on a student’s ability to put their best efforts forward. A majority of SJSU students rely on financial aid to support the cost of attendance. Financial aid is only able to cover a part of their cost of attendance, leaving students to bear a majority of the burden.
Launchpad’s visual identity brings together the old and new, with subtle retro references juxtaposed with sleek lines and bold colors. This blend of future nostalgia helps students get excited to take their dreams out of this world.
As a point of connection kiosk, Launchpad offers spaces as well as tools to help students with their creative endeavors. These tools were chosen in order to allow students to use technology to their advantage without the compromise of the associated cost of these tools.
