Working on the BFA Graphic Design c/o 2023 Senior Show Exhibition was an amazing and transformative experience. Collaborating with a talented team of classmates, we poured our hearts into every step, from brainstorming the overall layout to designing individual and group kiosks, and creating a show-stopping centerpiece. We got hands-on with large-scale prints, motion graphics, and projection mapping to make the exhibition truly dynamic. Delegating tasks was crucial, and we ensured everything—from construction to daily operations and eventual take down—ran smoothly. It was more than just displaying our work; it was about celebrating our growth and creativity together. Watching our vision come to life was incredibly rewarding, and the whole process left us with unforgettable memories and a strong sense of pride in our achievements.

Modulate showcases the creative synergy of sixteen women from diverse backgrounds. This collaborative effort of many parts is highlighted in the unique design of each individual panel, and the converging arrangement towards a “modulated” center monument.

Going through this process was not free of its fair share of challenges and I used critical feedback received during sessions with my advisors, which helped to refine and validate the direction of my project. One challenge was figuring out the best way to display my collages, which was inspired by the concept of the wunderkammer, or “Cabinet of Curiosity" From my first ideation of a suitcase with compartments, to a cabinet of drawers, to a display shelf, and finally display-case esque cubbies, I struggled with how to balance the feeling of a collection, reveal, discovery, and display. I compromised the loss of reveal and discovery that the drawers allowed for in favor of the clear acrylic cubbies that are more accessible for people to take the collages out of as well as having a stronger connotation of display, reminiscent of museum display cases.
